The past four months have been much of a whirlwind for me. I can't even begin to explain how busy I've been, but how thankful I am for all of the opportunities I've had and where my life is headed.
This experience not only made me thankful for the gentle but strong men (and women) in my life, but it also made me want to work as hard as possible to make sure my son grows up knowing how to handle anger, frustration, sadness, and all of his emotions in productive ways that make him a better human being.
Today it has been one month exactly since my surgery. Yesterday I had my first appointment with my new Gastroenterologist who has begun the process to diagnose what has been causing my digestive issues most of my life. Wednesday I had my last post-op appointment with my surgeon - YAY! I'm finally feeling ready to… Continue reading “You had a what?” – My Surgery, Fistula, and Getting Close to a Diagnosis
Well, yet again, this week didn't go as planned. But that's life, right? As I've discussed many times, I've been dealing with some health/digestive issues most of my life, but especially the last six months or so. Last Wednesday I finally made it to a doctor and, to my unhappy surprise, she immediately scheduled me… Continue reading GMST Challenge – Week 6: A Surprise Surgery
I've made it to week 5! Eventually I'll actually start posting on Sundays again, like I'm supposed to! Although I'm still dealing with health issues and haven't been able to journal/plan every day, I have still managed to keep up with tasks scheduled weekly and have been checking my calendar each day. Some days I… Continue reading Getting My Sh*t Together – Week 5: Sh*t’s Getting Real
**This update is five days late....so it's going to be covering Week THREE and FOUR.** There's been a slight hold-up, if you will, on the "Getting My Sh*t Together" Challenge. For the past five months, I've been dealing with some health issues off and on -- but mostly on. In about mid-December and through the… Continue reading Getting My Sh*t Together Challenge – Week 3/4 Update
Two weeks down! I haven’t had a mental breakdown – yet – and I’ve been getting lots done. This week was much…lazier than the previous week. The freezing cold weather and snow, plus Landon being home for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and two snow days sort of messed up the flow I had going… Continue reading Getting My Sh*t Together – Week Two Check-In: No Mental Breakdown Yet!
So, it’s only been a week. And good habits are not established in just a week. There is still a good possibility that after doing this for a few weeks -- or even a few months to be honest -- I will lose my excitement over planning and organizing and fall off the “get my sh*t together” wagon. I don’t want to create a false sense of accomplishment for completing a week of my challenge, but I’m still pretty optimistic I’ll be able to succeed. It also helps that my daily affirmation for the month is “I believe in myself and my ability to succeed.”
I’m a hot mess. I have been for most of my life. I try to have my sh*t together and I’m good at making it look like I do – most of the time – but in all reality, I am struggling every day to keep up with everything going on in my life and… Continue reading Finally Getting My Sh*t Together – A Year Long Blog Series
I struggled coming up with Christmas presents for my 7-year-old son, Landon this year. The ONLY thing he asked for was FIFA18 (a soccer video game) and the jerseys of some of his favorite soccer players. Literally all he cares about is playing soccer, watching soccer, going to soccer games, playing soccer videogames, and maybe… Continue reading Best Christmas Present for Kids – Kidsport Burst GPS Watch
